Act against appropriation! workshop
In our signature, interactive workshop, we will use story-telling, current events and self-inquiry to dissect the harmful impacts of cultural appropriation.
We explore the interconnectedness of appropriation, race, power, personal attachments & the roots of yoga. We provide guidelines and worksheets for on-going action as a means to right the wrong of appropriation.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
This workshop is for you if you’re:
A yoga students and/or professionals working within the yoga and wellness industry
Somewhat familiar with social justice concepts and language
AND you are actively working to dismantle white supremacy culture
This workshop is NOT for you if you’re new to learning about social justice and the subtler and systemic ways racism manifests itself. Instead, we are working on a course that will cover some of the foundational education necessary in order to understand appropriation and to take you from learning towards acting. If you’re South Asian, you’re welcome to sign up for Act Against Appropriation! at this time. Also we are also working on another offering specifically addressing the needs of our community when it comes to this topic. You’re welcome to attend both as each will be different and unique. What are the details?
This 3-hour workshop will take place July 30, 3-6pm EST.
The investment is $250 to join. We’re offering a BIPOC scholarship rate at $125 as well as a Needs-Based Full Scholarship for those who have experienced or are currently experiencing race based traumatic stress. For all other special circumstances, please let us know in your application.
This workshop will only be for those who are accepted to take this with us live. We will not be selling or sharing the replay for this workshop.
